The Institute of Interim Management is pleased to welcome Charlotte Gorse AIIM to the IIM Board.
Charlotte is an experienced interim executive with a track record spanning business transformation, turnaround and international market expansion. Her career includes senior roles across higher education, luxury and the creative industries, alongside extensive experience in consultancy, board membership and honorary positions with UK and international organisations.
She brings a combination of commercial brand strategy, creative entrepreneurship and relationship building to the Board, as well as first-hand understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing interim professionals.
Charlotte was attracted to the IIM by its reputation as an agile, member-led organisation and its proactive response to change across the interim sector.
“The Institute is an exciting and agile members-led organisation, respected nationally and internationally for its work with and for the interim sector,” she said.
“I love how it responds proactively to disruption, supporting the emerging needs of companies, organisations and interim executives alike. Its annual survey is gold dust, helping everyone access the latest market intelligence.”
As she begins her role, Charlotte is particularly looking forward to meeting more of the ambitious, sector-leading professionals within the IIM community, especially those who thrive in periods of change and transformation.
She is also keen to contribute her experience in education and training, alongside her passion for building relationships and curating events that bring people together around shared ideas and challenges.
Having worked across a variety of organisations and situations, Charlotte values the opportunity interim management provides to continually adapt, rethink established approaches and develop new solutions.
“Working with different situational contexts, challenges and opportunities helps me rethink and innovate my own experience, toolkit and ways of working,” she explained.
“No two assignments are the same. That ultimately drives my grey cells, leading to new solutions and creative thinking.”
Charlotte believes this ability to balance risk and opportunity is becoming increasingly valuable as organisations respond to significant and often immediate change.
“While each sector faces unprecedented change, managing risk alongside opportunity is one of the greatest skills many interims provide to their clients.”
One of Charlotte’s priorities will be to explore the breadth, depth and diversity of the IIM membership, and to understand how members’ different backgrounds and experiences can be brought together to address common issues.
She hopes to support opportunities for members to share knowledge, build relationships and learn from experiences across different sectors and specialisms.
Beyond her professional work, Charlotte is motivated by a desire to seek out new experiences and explore different parts of the world.
“Culture and location inform how we see, hear and smell the world around us,” she said.
She is also keen to hear directly from members as she settles into her new role.
“I love a virtual or in-person coffee. Show me something from your interim experience and, together, we can create something new.”
The IIM Board looks forward to working with Charlotte and drawing on her experience, creativity and enthusiasm as the Institute continues to support its members and the wider interim management profession.
