History of the IIM
The Institute of Interim Management has been promoting and supporting Interim Managers for over 15 years. The history is fascinating and occasionally dramatic.
The Institute of Interim Management (IIM) is the UK’s only professional body for independent professionals. Members operate at board or near-board level as Interim Managers and Executives in business on their own account.
The Institute, founded in 2001 is a fully independent professional Institute incorporated as a not-for-profit organisation.
The Institute is run on a voluntary basis by a Board and executive committees of seasoned Interim Managers and is committed to supporting and promoting professional Interim Managers working in the UK and internationally.
Members are held to a code of conduct ensuring that Interim Managers work at or above, a level expected by clients.
The Institute is a collaborative organisation working with leading Affiliate and Partner organisations servicing independent professionals in general and Interim management in particular.

Since the IIM opened its doors, we have helped thousands of Interim Managers into and through their professional careers, both in the UK and internationally.
We have stood for professional development, setting and maintaining high standards for our organisation and membership, thus identifying our Members as adhering to best-in-class professional principles.
Lobbying remains at the heart of what IIM does, in particular around the issue of IR35.
Interims work in business on their own account and for much of the time this means working alone.
The IIM offers a place like no other where we can network, learn, share and enjoy the company of others who understand what we do.
